On December 12, 2018, the Chimacum School Board approved a grade level and facility reconfiguration plan.

This plan calls for primary school operations--Preschool to Second Grade--at the Chimacum Creek Primary Campus in Port Hadlock; Chimacum Elementary School Grades 3 through 6 located at a newly renovated wing of the main campus (the southern part of the existing middle school building) ; and a 7-12 Secondary School on the main campus.

The new configuration is designed to align reduced enrollment with the best facility spaces the district owns.

Families and patrons of the district are welcome to tour the spaces by calling 302-5890 to arrange a tour date.

This announcement comes early in the planning process for the 2019-20 school year to ensue ample time for transition planning.

Happy New Year!

On December 12, 2018 the Chimacum School Board approved a grade reconfiguration plan.  The plan calls for maintaining the K-2 school site at Chimacum Creek Primary School, adding 6th grade to the current Elementary 3-5 model, and consolidating secondary operations into a new 7-12 model.   The reconfiguration is the outcome of work completed by a facilities committee, and to respond to declining enrollment.  Put simply: we needed to reduce our facility footprint while being more efficient with how we group our students.  This winter and spring we will work hard to sure school safety is improved, to create the best possible learning climate, and to develop attractive educational programs at all levels.  Please let me know if you would like to tour the facilities or if you have any questions about the new grade plan.

Thank you,

Rick Thompson

Superintendent
