Phosphor is a substance thats sustained glowing after exsposed to light, or energized particles such as electrons. Phophor is greek wich means "lighter bearer", its spelled "phosphorors" Henning Brand a german alchemist discovered phosphor in 1669. Phosporus by itself isn't phosphor it is highly reactive and gives off a faint chemiluminescent upon uniting with oxygen. Phosphors are transition metal compounds of rare earth's, compounds of various types.
