•Bacteria
can help make certain kinds of food.
•E-coli colonies can be pink, purple, white and can have a tinge of red
in the center.
•If you get in contact with fecal coliform you can get ill and/or get
an ear infection.
•E-coli is part of the coliform family.
•E-coli is a common fecal coliform.
•Fecal coliform rates can go up and down in bodies of water like lakes,
rivers and even larger bodies of water.
•In the u.s. and canada fecal coliform is rising to a dangerously high
level.
•Using manure as fertilizer causes runoff which can go into a near by
a body of water causing contamination.
•Rising levels of fecal coliform can sometimes be blamed on shellfish
for nesting in beach areas.
• Fecal coliform bacteria may help indicate the presence of disease-carrying
organism, which lives in the same environment as the fecal coliform.
