Is flow rate important?
Yes it is for two important reasons. But it all depends on how fast the water
goes. If the water goes fast it is bad because it is hard on the
alevin and the eggs around them. The reason it is bad on them is because
if the water bank is not curved and it’ s strait the water goes fast
and if the water goes fast that is not good. It is not good because when the
water goes fast the alevin will use up
all of their energy out of their yolk
sack just to stay by the eggs or the “nest”. They need their yolk
sack, which they need to survive on until they are bigger to hunt on their
own. So we need to keep our riverbanks curvy so we can have more fish.
