A point and non-point source is simple to remember. Point sources are pollution places that you can see and point at. A non-point source is pollution that you can’t point at and don’t know the cause. Some point sources are road and farm runoff, acid rain, sewage, and car sludge. Some non-point sources could be DDT (processing chemicals) or heat pollution.

A few tips would be don’t throw garbage into a river or stream. Don’t wash your car near sewage drains. Don’t walk around in water where salmon or fish eggs are. Don’t chop away trees near a riverbank. And help clean up a near by river or stream because some of the river water could go into your drinking water.
