The word Tannins comes from tanning hides into leather. Tannins can be filters called self-cleaning auto filters. Tannins taste bitter, high levels of tannins make the water brown. They also have the ability to react with bacterial cell walls. Did you know that tannins get in to the water by the debris that is in the water.
