Temperature (as you probably know) is how hot or cold something is. Our job was also to study temp and test Chimacum Creek.
You know how white clothing feels colder than black clothing? Water is the same way! Waterways with dark water are more sensitive to heat than clear water.
Waterways that are large or fast require more time to heat up making them cooler.
Water temperature also depends on its location. If the water was in the Amazon (A.K.A. A warm climate) it would be warmer than if it were in Iceland (A.K.A. A cold climate).
Pollution can affect water temperature. If the garbage going into a stream is warm, it will make the over all temp of the stream rise.
Fact- Warm water makes substances appear such as zinc, cyanide, and xylene!
