| Steps for measuring conductivity using a conductivity
probe: 1: Plug sensor into sensor interface 2: set range to 0-200 (Unless there is higher Conductivity in the water) 3: start run on sensor inter face and swirl probe in water. |
Concuctivity is how much electricity is running through the water (sugars are not conductive). Conductivity is controlled by rock types or geology, size of the watershed (a watershed is an area that all the water in the area comes into), or lake basin, and other sources of ions to lakes, which is a number of pollutants. Electrons (electricity) cannot travel through water by themselves, it s carried by ions. if electrical ions are put in a solution, the ions of an oppositte charge are attracted together. when water evaporates off a lake the dissolved solids concentrate and have a higher conductivity. Conductivity is measured in microseimens,seimens/cm., (s/cm), or mho/cm.
