Tidal Pool WebQuest
An Internet WebQuest on Maine Tidal Pool
created by Blue Boat Elementary
Introduction | The Task | The Process & Resources | Conclusion
Picture this: you are a plant or animal living in a tide pool among the rocks along Maine's coast. Your home is a dangerous place. You have to find food and, at the same time, find protection so that you don't become someone else's lunch! When the tide comes in, the powerful waves crash on the rocks and try to wash you away. Can you hang on tight? And then, when the tide goes out, it leaves your habitat exposed to the wind, to birds, and humans! How do you survive? Are you the most clever creature in the tide pool? Are you the most important one in the tide pool habitat?
Tide pool plants and animals have adapted to life in a harsh environment. How do they survive? What does a tide pool food web look like? Is one plant or animal more important than the others?
