Port Townsend, WA  - Jefferson Healthcare is now scheduling appointments for flu vaccination.  Flu vaccination is an important component of an individual’s wellness plan.  Primary Care Clinics offers both drive-up and in-clinic vaccination. Drive-up appointments limit potential exposure to respiratory illness, reduce the amount of PPE used and are very convenient.

  • Drive-up Flu shot appointments can be scheduled through the Sheridan Clinic in Port Townsend 360.379.8031.
  • Appointments for in-clinic and drive-up in Port Ludlow can be made by calling 360.437.5067
  • Appointments for South County patient can be made by calling 360.385.3991

Every year, the flu season brings with it not just more respiratory illness that includes fevers, coughs, and sore throats but also a number of hospitalizations and flu-related deaths. Because healthcare systems across the country and world are already fearing another surge of COVID-19 cases during the Fall and Winter, there is concern a wave of influenza infections could overwhelm strained hospitals and clinics.

Dr. Joe Mattern, Chief Medical Officer says, “Vaccinating against the flu can protect you and your community.  It turns out that not only is the flu shot safe for people with chronic health conditions; evidence shows it helps their immune system and overall health. People with chronic lung disease are less likely to develop exacerbations and end up in the hospital. People with heart disease are less likely to have heart attacks and cardiac events when they get the flu shot. Pregnant women are less likely to end up in the hospital with the flu, and their newborn babies gain protection against the flu for the first few months of life.”

Protecting all members of our community through vaccination is an important initiative.  By vaccinating families on time, we build a community of immunity around vulnerable populations like babies and seniors.

Every person entering our clinic is screened for temperature and respiratory illness symptoms.  Universal masking is in place for all patients, visitors and employees.  Waiting areas and exam rooms receive extra cleanings and physical distancing is practiced.
