Dear Chimacum Families,
I am delighted to come back from my family leave. Our new baby, Greta Lark, is thriving and Maggie and I have been grateful for the time getting to know her, resting from the birth time, and setting up our new life routines. It has been quite an amazing month for my family to watch Greta change- the pace of changes is accelerating! I have felt a tremendous tender-heartedness and love not just for Greta, but an expansion of love for my sons Sage and Sawyer, who are grown. As you know, this parenting thing is quite a journey, and I feel lucky to have such remarkable children.
Daylight Savings time always seems to come with an acceleration of time and to-dos at school. We are busy building the 23-24 budget, planning programs and schedules, and staffing up for next year. We will be announcing changes as they come. Here are some updates:
As you may know, we are moving our second grade classes to the CES campus next year to make room for expanded early learning.
We are hiring a new Principal at CCP in the next two or three weeks.
We will not be changing start times at any schools, but we will make some adjustments to the annual calendar that will not be a full-blown balanced calendar.
We are recruiting a new Student Board Director to take the place of outgoing senior Connor Paterson.
Thank you for your support during my absence. A special thanks to Dr. Engle, the board, and my central office team for covering for me!
Don’t forget to spring forward this weekend.
Warmly,
Dr. Scott Mauk, Superintendent
