Volunteers

VOLUNTEERS IN THE SCHOOL

Volunteers are an integral part of many school programs.  The Chimacum School District believes that without the help of volunteers, many field trips and classroom projects would not be possible.

In order to help ensure that our students have a safe and rewarding experience with our volunteers, we have prepared the following guidelines and documents for you to complete prior to volunteering in our district.

We thank you very much for giving your time and support to these important activities.

There are many ways to volunteer, such as field trips, overnight trips, transporting students, classroom and building support and student athletics.

  • Volunteers in the classroom and on field trips must be at least 21 years old
  • Volunteer coaches must be 19 years old
  • Volunteers who transport students must be at least 25 years old with minimum of three years driving experience

FOLLOWING ARE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR ALL DISTRICT VOLUNTEERS TO REVIEW:

CLASSROOM AND PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS

FIELD TRIP VOLUNTEERS INCLUDING OVERNIGHT FIELD TRIP VOLUNTEERS

Please download and complete the volunteer application form below, then bring it into one of the school offices along with your photo ID.

VOLUNTEER DRIVER FOR FIELD TRIP

Personal Vehicle:

  • Complete the online training courses for Defensive Driving and Road Rage.
  • Submit a driving abstract obtained from the Department of Licensing within the last 30 days
  • Submit a copy of current/valid driver’s license
  • Complete online training course for CPR and First Aid
  • Current volunteer form on file.

The above courses will be assigned to your email account through our Safe Schools Training Program.

  • Once you have completed the training programs, complete form (2320F-4) Use of Personal Vehicle to Transport Students
  • Submit completed form to the district office
  • District office reviews and signs form indicating Safe Schools courses are complete and insurance coverage with required limits has been provided and all documentation is on file

District Vehicle (Staff and Volunteer Coaches ONLY):

  • Complete the online training courses for Defensive Driving, Road Rage, Van Safety and Winter Driving. 
  • Submit a driving abstract obtained from the Department of Licensing within the last 30 days
  • Submit a copy of current/valid driver’s license
  • Provide proof of current and valid CPR and First Aid Training. 
    • As outlined in RCW 28A.230.179, the instructional program must be developed by the American Heart Association, American Red Cross or a nationally recognized program based on the most current national evidence-based cardiovascular care guidelines for CPR/AED. The program accepted by the District must follow the provisions recommended in the RCW, which are programs developed by the agencies above or a nationally recognized institution.

  • Schedule the Observation Ride with the Transportation Department

The above courses will be assigned to your email account through our SafeSchools Training Program.

ATHLETIC COACHING SUPPORT
