FEDERAL & STATE PROGRAMS
Chimacum Elementary receives Federal funding through Title 1, Part A as well as State funding through The Learning Assistance Program (LAP) to support struggling students.
Title I, Part A is a federally-funded program, part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), that serves the needs of children identified as failing or most at risk of failing the state's performance standards in Mathematics, Reading, and Writing. Title I provides students with extra educational assistance beyond the regular classroom. Title I also serves qualified students who attend private schools.
The Learning Assistance Program (LAP) is Washington's state-funded program providing additional academic support to eligible students. Eligible students are those achieving below grade level on assessments, or who need readiness skills for core subjects. Special emphasis on reading literacy in the early grades, LAP funds are used to deliver supplemental services that give our students the strong start they need for academic success.
School Improvement Plan (SIP)- Each year our school conducts a needs assessment, plans for continued improvement using reform strategies, plans activities for students and staff to ensure mastery, and coordinates other funding sources to achieve these goals. District and School Report Card Information- If you would like to learn about how Chimacum students are doing compared to other schools in our region and across the State, you can visit OSPI's Report Card. The Report Card contains information about test results as well as other statistics about our school.
Parent's Right To Know Teacher Qualifications- All parents and guardians have the right to request information regarding the professional qualifications of your child’s classroom teacher(s) or instructional paraeducators. If you request this information, the district will provide you with the following:
- Whether the teacher has met Washington teacher certification requirements for the grade level and subjects in which the teacher provides instruction;
- Whether the teacher is teaching under a emergency or other provisional status for which Washington qualifications or certification has been waived;
- The college major of the teacher and any graduate degree or certificate; and
- Whether your child is receiving Title 1 services from paraprofessionals, and if so, whether these paraprofessionals meet state/federal requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act.
