Good Afternoon:

As you are likely aware:  people in areas all around the world are experiencing the respiratory illness COVID 19, caused by the novel Corona Virus.  I encourage you to review these medical sources to learn more about the virus and  how to prevent transmission.  There is no vaccine developed yet, but the following actions can help prevent or reduce transmission:

  • The illness looks just like the flu
  • Cover coughs or sneezes in your elbow or with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash and clean hands with soap and water or sanitizer
  • Symptoms may include general malaise, fever, chills, coughing, shortness of breath
  • Stay home if you are ill -

Please keep children home until they are free of symptoms for at least 72 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication if they have had a fever, cough, or shortness of breath.

  • Wash your hands with soap and water frequently for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose.
  • If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol based sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
  • Get a flu shot when you can

The District will continue to share information about this emerging health issue with you directly on our website and Facebook pages.  We are in communication with local health officials to stay abreast of any changes ore developments in this area.

We are also reminding you to intentionally combat stigma.  Stigma will not  help fight the illness; sharing up to date information will.

The District will continue to clean facilities to help prevent any possible transmission of the virus and the drivers are committed to clean buses as much as possible.  If any changes are made to school scheduling, closing school, or attendance policies, we will let you know right away.
