Families work with a certificated teacher to create a home learning plan that fits their goals, schedule, and child’s needs. Students may attend selected learning blocks during the week, including foundational literacy, foundational math, snack and story, and Play Lab, with monthly check-ins to reflect on growth and adjust the plan.
Primary Pi is not one-size-fits-all. It is flexible, personal, playful, and built around partnership with parents.

We are incredibly proud and inspired by our Chimacum Cowboys Band!
Although the Washington, D.C. parade was canceled due to extreme heat, the spirit of America’s 250th Anniversary celebration lived on. In a truly uplifting moment, our student musicians joined high school bands from Florida, Wisconsin, and California for an impromptu performance at the National Museum of the United States Army.
What could have been a disappointing setback became an inspiring display of resilience, and the unifying power of music. These talented students demonstrated grace, flexibility, and enthusiasm, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
A heartfelt thank you to Daniel Ferland, Jesse Bland, and the dedicated parents, volunteers, and community supporters who helped make this unforgettable experience possible. Your support ensured that our students could represent Chimacum with pride and excellence.

We are deeply grateful to the BOCC for honoring Mr. Montgomery’s remarkable legacy as a Chimacum teacher, band director, coach, mentor, and builder of school spirit from 1954 to 1985. It was especially meaningful to have members of the Montgomery family present, including Rick and Cheryl, the Montgomery children, and daughter-in-law Jackie.
As we prepare for the June 4 dedication of the Montgomery Auditorium, we are proud to honor Duane and Mary Lou Montgomery and the generations of students, musicians, alumni, and families shaped by their service.

Chimacum School District is honored to invite alumni, families, music lovers, former band students, friends of Duane Montgomery, and the Montgomery family to a special dedication of the Montgomery Auditorium.
Thursday, June 4th 7:00 PM
Chimacum Jr./Sr. High School
Please join us as we celebrate Chimacum’s deep musical roots, the Montgomery family, and the generations of students whose lives have been shaped by music in the Valley Near the Water. This celebration will honor the lasting legacy of Duane L. Montgomery, beloved former Chimacum band teacher, founder of the Chimacum Marching Band, and writer of the Chimacum Alma Mater, still sung today: “In the valley near the water stands our alma mater…”
The evening will feature student musical performances from 2nd through 12th grade, including songs from our 2nd and 3rd grade students, the 4th–6th grade elementary drumline, the Jr./Sr. High Band, small group performances, and a big finale. All are welcome!

In true cowboy fashion, our teachers show up, work hard, and take care of their herd. They build strong roots in our community while helping students ride toward big horizons ahead. Exposing students to the world outside the classroom is a memorable way to inspire and awaken their minds.
Thank you TIana Hawn and all our teachers for being steady hands and big-hearted leaders for our kids. 🌾🐎 #DeepRootsBroadHorizons

Our educators don’t just teach content—they build relationships, spark curiosity, and create opportunities that shape lives. That’s the heart of Deep Roots, Broad Horizons—grounding students in who they are, while helping them imagine who they can become. Josette Mendoza and Kristen Johnson have inspired many students through their work with the award winning Robotics Team. We’re so grateful for all our fabulous teachers. 💙

Let's give a big shoutout to Katie, Ryan, Sarah, and Kelley for the incredible leadership they bring to Chimacum every day. They create inclusive, engaging schools where every student is known by name, strength, and need—and they do it with innovation, dedication, and a lot of joy.
They keep our Purpose and Promise alive here in the Valley Near the Water. Join us in thanking them for all they do! 🙌
Our transportation team has earned a Letter of Achievement from OSPI and the Washington State Patrol for outstanding results on our annual school bus inspections for the second year in a row! Celebrating a Legacy of Care
For nearly two decades, Chimacum has been home to something truly special—the first School-Based Health Center in Jefferson County!
What started as a “what if” has become a cornerstone of care for our students, providing medical, mental health, and wellness support right where kids are—at school.
This year alone, the SBHC served 77 students through 219 visits, with nearly a third of our high school students accessing care. Even more powerful, 79% of students received mental health screenings—helping us support students early and often.
We are incredibly grateful to our partners at Jefferson County Public Health, Jefferson Healthcare, and our dedicated SBHC team for making this work possible. This is what it looks like when a community wraps around its kids. https://www.co.jefferson.wa.us/1298/Chimacum-School-Based-Health-Clinic
